PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION INSTALLATION
CIL are experts in the installation of passive fire protection systems and for the quality of our work as passive fire protection installers.

Passive fire protection systems are only as strong as their weakest point so it is vital they are properly thought out and verified. We supply and install a wide selection of passive fire protection products such as the RockWool firestop range. This allows us to implement effective passive fire protection systems in almost any type of building.

WHAT IS PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION?
EU building regulations require that any new buildings or refurbishments take account of passive fire protection. Passive fire protection is based on the idea of compartmentalisation. This is a way of designing buildings so that fire is contained in specific areas. By slowing down the spread of fire through a building compartmentalisation allows time for people to escape and reduces structural damage so that the building is less likely to collapse. Passive fire resistance is particularly important in larger buildings such as tower blocks and in building which are likely to have high evacuation times such as hospitals. Most passive fire protection systems are rated according to the amount of time they are designed to contain a fire for.

In order to make passive fire protection systems work effectively it is vital that all holes and voids in floors, ceilings and walls are properly sealed. Where utilities such as data cables or water pipes are required to pass into a fire compartment it can create a weak spot. Using firestop systems allows us to create effective seals and barriers which will maintain the integrity of a compartment.
